Surface Preparation & Application Guidelines

1. High-Pressure Washing (2,500 – 3,000 PSI)
Roof surface must be free of grease, moss, algae, biological growth, dirt, and loose roof granules. Use biodegradable TSP substitute cleaner where needed; rinse thoroughly and allow to dry.
2. Seam, Flashing & Fastener Reinforcement
Inspect all ridge caps, valleys, sidewall flashings, skylight curbs, and fasteners. Pre-treat penetrations and seams with Nationwide Elastic Mastic reinforced with stitch-bonded polyester fabric before coating.
3. Priming Guidelines for Corroded Metal & Aged Asphalt
Rusty metal requires wire brushing and spot-priming with Nationwide Metal-Lok Rust Inhibitive Primer. For non-ferrous aluminum or slick factory finishes, apply an adhesion promoter primer.
4. Weather & Temperature Application Window (50°F – 100°F)
Apply only when ambient and surface temperatures are between 50°F (10°C) and 100°F (38°C), and at least 5°F above dew point. Do not apply if rain, fog, or freezing temperatures are expected within 24 hours.

Power wash roof at 2,500–3,000 PSI to remove dirt, oxidation, loose granules, and chalking. Detail all valleys, penetrations, flashings, skylights, and fasteners with Nationwide Elastic Mastic and reinforcing fabric.

Mechanical Agitation

PermaGard contains high-density solids (68% wt). Power mix using a heavy-duty electric drill with a spiral paddle for 3–5 minutes until completely smooth and creamy. Do not thin or dilute with water.

Airless Spray Application

Apply using an industrial airless sprayer (min. 2,500–3,000 PSI, flow >1.5 GPM, reversible tip size .025" to .031"). Spray two coats in cross-hatch passes at 100 sq. ft. per gallon per coat to ensure 16–18 mils total dry film.

DFT Mil Gauge Inspection
