Mixing Ratios & Special Precautions

Standard Dosing Ratio (1:8)

Add 1 Pint (16 fl. oz.) of Dek-Gard per 1 Gallon of host coating, or 2 Quarts per 5 Gallon pail. Do not dilute beyond specified ratios.

Mechanical Drill Agitation Required

Always use a mechanical paddle drill mixer at low-to-medium RPM for 2–3 minutes to ensure uniform intumescent dispersion.

Substrate Moisture Limits (≤ 18%)

Verify wood moisture content is below 18% prior to application. Do not apply onto saturated wood or in wet conditions.

Dense Exotic Hardwoods (Ipe, Cumaru, Teak)

Solvent wipe surface prior to applying penetrating deck oil mixed with Dek-Gard to guarantee full resin acceptance.
